How does Sedation work?
You are given a small pill to take prior to your appointment, and will be driven to your appointment by a companion. Once at the office, you will be kept warm and comfortable. You will never be alone, and will be carefully monitored throughout your visit. Additional medication will be given as needed, to insure your comfort throughout the treatment. Due to effects of the medication, you may remember very little about your visit.
Will I be asleep or "knocked out"?
No. You may feel very sleepy and may fall asleep, but you will always be responsive and able to communicate with Dr Stoiber.
How will I be monitored during my appointment?
Your vital signs will be watched continuously using advanced blood pressure monitoring and pulse oximetry. You will never be left unattended.
Will I need an IV?
No. Sedation is achieved through the use of very safe oral medications.
Do I need a ride to my appointment?
Yes. You may be drowsy soon after your medication is taken. You will need a responsible companion to drive you to and from your appointment. Your companion should also stay with you after your appointment, as the effects of the medication may take several hours to wear off.
